I sang at your second wedding and you paid for my divorce and all the holes in all the stories that you told me couldn't make me love you any worse. But I still see you twenty years ago today sleeping on my shoulder  underneath your Persian sweater  on a southbound train seven stitches in your ringless finger the kitchen lights too bright to dance and you insisted that you didn't need a doctor but the colander was shaking in your hand but I still hear you twenty years ago today swearing like a soldier  while the blood and broken glass went down the drain
